Biographical / Historical

劉惠瓊(1924-2017)，祖籍廣東中山。筆名港生、華華、敏兒、潔瑩和何樂等，又稱劉姐姐，著作包括兒童故事、寓言和廣播劇劇本等。

1944 年於成都四川大學讀書，1946 年畢業於上海復旦大學教育系，後在上海粵東大學任教。1948 年與丈夫楊遠鏞及女兒由上海回港。1949 年，於香港麗的呼聲及香港電台主持兒童節目，為兒童講故事和解答疑難，及後為聽眾組織兒童劇團和兒童合唱團等。同年，應《華僑日報》總編輯何建章之邀，擔任《華僑日報‧兒童周刊》主編至 1982 年。

1956 年，赴英國倫敦大學進修兒童心理學一年,期間在倫敦麗的呼聲總部為節目「旅英見聞」錄音後寄回香港播出，並在英國廣播公司（BBC）海外部主持「我在倫敦所見所聞」節目。1957 年，劉惠瓊回港後繼續主持麗的呼聲的兒童節目至1963 年。1958 年，程步高執導的電影《慈母頑兒》上映，劇本改編自劉惠瓊的廣播劇《街童》，李嬙飾演慈母，黎小田飾演頑童。

1960 年，劉惠瓊創辦香港首份彩色兒童刊物《兒童報》。翌年於香港集友銀行擔任兒童儲蓄部主任，出版兒童手冊和設計兒童儲蓄錢箱。1964 年出版《少年報》，惜出版四期後停刊。1966 年 9 月《兒童報》停刊後，社址改設「兒童圖書公司」，劉惠瓊把刊登過的文章輯為叢書發售。1968 年，在北角渣華道開辦明慧幼稚園並擔任校監。

1986 年，劉惠瓊與丈夫移居加拿大溫哥華。移居後仍繼續寫作，不過作品只供親友欣賞，沒有公開發售。2002 年和 2003 年，劉惠瓊把她的手稿、部份著作和自製的圖書等資料捐給香港中文大學的香港文學特藏。2017 年在溫哥華逝世。
