Administrative History

Hong Kong Cable Television ( 「香港有線電視」 ) (below referred to as “Cable TV”) is a pay television services operated by i-Cable Communications Limited ( 「有線寬頻通訊有限公司」 ). It was formerly called Wharf Cable TV ( 「九倉有線電視」 ). In 1993, Cable TV awarded a 12-year domestic pay television program service licence and began broadcasting on 31 October. It is the second pay television station in Hong Kong.

Cable TV offers local and overseas channels including movies, news and sports television programs, it also produces its own television programs to provide entertainments and news. In particular, Cable TV launched 24-hour Cantonese news channel and often acquires exclusive broadcasting rights of many international and regional sports events in Hong Kong.

To support news broadcasting, Hong Kong Cable TV Library collects news materials such as newspaper clippings, government publications, journals, daily raw news footage to preserve news resources.
